Mediation Training Programmes
In view of the fact that trained personnel are the backbone of any system, the Mediation & Conciliation Committee of Punjab & Haryana High Court has arranged various training programmes. The First Phase of the Programme for Mediators was under taken from 18th to 20th July and 25th to 27th July 2008. in this programme, a 40 hours training, was imparted to 21 Advocates, 5 faculty members of Chandigarh Judicial Academy and 2 Judicial Officers.
Thereafter, from 11.10.2008 to 14.10.2008, 38 Judicial Officers from Punjab and Haryana States were imparted 40 hours training at Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Chandigarh and in the month of November & December, 2008, 25 advocates from Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association, 13 advocates from Chandigarh District Court Bar Association, 2 Judicial Officers and 4 faculty members of Chandigarh Judicial Academy were imparted said training
The Hon'ble Committee also decided to train advocates with good antecedents to reap full benefits of the available infrastructure. The District & Sessions Judges forwarded the names of the advocates desirous to undergo Mediation Training. These advocates were then imparted training from 23rd to 25th April, 2010 and from 1st and 2nd May, 2010. The Training Programme was inaugurated by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Cyriac Joseph and key note address was given by Hon'ble the Chief Justice. During the Training Programme, the Committee also invited Hon'ble Mr. Justice A.K.Sikri and Hon'ble Ms. Justice Hema Kohli, both from Delhi High Court. They shared their wealth of knowledge and rich experiences with the trainees. As many as 108 Advocates of 18 Districts of Punjab & Haryana were imparted 40 hours mediation training.
A 40 hours Mediation Training was organized by Hon'ble Mediation & Conciliation Committee for 21 Advocates of Punjab & Haryana Court, from 20th to 22nd July, 2012(First phase) and 27th to 29th July, 2012(Second phase) in the Chandigarh Judicial Academy. The Training was imparted by the Trainers deputed by Hon'ble Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee, Supreme Court of India. After administering oath on 05.09.2012, the 21 Mediators started conducting Mediations in the Mediation & Conciliation Centres of this Court.
Besides that a 40-Hours Mediation Training Programme was also organized by Hon'ble Mediation & Conciliation Committee of this Court for 16 Advocates of District Court, Chandigarh, from 24th to 26nd August, 2012(First phase) and 31st August to 02nd September, 2012(Second phase) in the Chandigarh Judicial Academy. The Training was imparted by the Trainers deputed by Hon'ble Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee, Supreme Court of India.
Advance Mediation Training Programme from 21st to 23rd March, 2014
Hon'ble Mediation & Conciliation Committee, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, organized an Advance Mediation Training Programme for the Advocate-Mediators from 21st to 23rd March, 2014 in Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Sector 43, Chandigarh. The Programme was conducted by Master Trainers namely Sh.Niranjan Bhatt, Ms.Sadhana Ramachandran and her team from Delhi Mediation Centre.
Chandigarh Mediation Audit Programme from 23rd to 25th March, 2014
Hon'ble Mediation & Conciliation Committee, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh invited Mr. Victor Schachter, Mr. John A. Koeppel and Ms. Jennifer L. Brandt, Trainers from America along with Mrs. Laila T. Ollapally, Coordinator, Bangluru Mediation Centre, to see the working of Mediation & Conciliation Centre of this Court and for their suggestions to further improve the working of the Mediation Centres.
A meeting of the aforesaid trainers was also organized with Hon'ble Judges of this Court to discuss the role of Judges to make the concept of Mediation successful by referring the cases to the Mediation Centre.
Basic Mediation Training Programme from 28th to 30th March, 2014.
Hon'ble Mediation & Conciliation Committee, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, organized Basic Mediation Training Programme for the Advocates of this Court, in which training was imparted to 29 advocates, from 28th to 30th March, 2014, in Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Sector 43, Chandigarh. The Programme was conducted by Mr Sriram Panchu, Ms Uma Ramanathan, Mr A J Jawad and Mr Bharath Chakravarthy, Trainers of Chennai Mediation Centre.
Mediation Training Programme for the Advocates of this Court from 26th to 29th January, 2017.
Hon'ble Mediation & Conciliation Committee, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, organized Mediation Training Programme for the Advocates of this Court, in which training was imparted to 25 advocates, from 26th to 29th January, 2017, in Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Sector 43, Chandigarh. The Programme was conducted by Ms. R.Rathna Thara and Ms. Sudarshna Sunder, Trainers of Channai Mediation Centre and Sh.Swarn Sandhir, Ms.Monika Jalota, Ms.Reeta Kohli, Ms.Puneeta Sethi, Mr.Dhiraj Chawla and Mr.Sachin Jain, Trainers of Mediation Centre, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.
Besides above, the State Legal Services Authorities of Punjab and Haryana, under the aegis of Mediation & Conciliation Committee of this Court, also organized various Mediation Training Programmes from time to time for the Advocates and Trainee Judicial Officers of Punjab and Haryana.
In terms of decision taken in the meeting held under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble the Chief Justice of this Court on 04.12.2012 and resolution passed in Chief Justices' Conference held on 05th - 06th April, 2013, the control and supervision of the Mediation & Conciliation Centres set up in the States, have been handed over to their respective State Legal Services Authorities w.e.f July, 2013.
